Dr Casey Jones           Throughout his career, Dr. Casey Jones made an impact on the lives of students. Now, the estate of the Winston-Salem State University alumni will help education majors complete their degrees. Jones’s estate has established through the WSSU Foundation a $20,000 non-endowed scholarship for four education majors. The Laurinda M. Jones Memorial Scholarship is named in memory of his daughter. Jones, who died in 2015, earned his bachelor’s degree in elementary education from WSSU in 1955.

Jones had more than forty years of experience in secondary and higher education, serving as a professor at Howard University, Bowie State University, Montgomery College, the University of Maryland at Eastern Shore, and the University of Maryland at College Park. He received his doctoral degree from the University of Maryland, where he served in his longest tenure.
